AudioCodes One Voice AudioCodes One Voice

It’s the End for the Cisco VG224 - But Not for Analog

The-End-for-the-Cisco-VG224-But-Not-for-Analog-1

Don’t Worry, the AudioCodes MediaPack 1xx Has Got You Covered!

Those of you who follow these things might remember that, back in 2014, Cisco announced the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for their VG224 analog voice gateway. You might also be aware that the solution proposed by Cisco for anyone using these devices is to upgrade to one of the their VG3xx analog voice gateways. Analog, after all, is still relevant. Anyone migrating to all-IP but who has a large install base of analog devices might not want to make the transition to IP phones just yet. The hospitality industry is a good example of such a scenario.

But although Cisco’s recommendation might at first seem like a logical progression, it actually raises some significant (and potentially costly) issues for the end user.

First of all, the VG3xx gateways are considerably more expensive than the VG224. And secondly, because VG3xx gateways aren’t compatible with some earlier Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) versions, it might be necessary to upgrade to a later version at the same time. Unfortunately, this will also likely incur substantial costs.

But what if there was an alternative way to replace old VG224s while avoiding these problems entirely? Well, we have exactly that way.

AudioCodes’ MediaPack 1xx analog VoIP gateways tackle these concerns head on — and eliminate them. What’s more, our analog gateways are some of the most interoperable devices on the market today, with superior voice technology for connecting legacy equipment. Anyone choosing to replace their VG224s with our best-of-breed gateways can take advantage of:

  • Seamless integration with existing Cisco CallManager versions
  • A rich subscriber feature set for full compliance with the current user experience
  • Minimal changes required on the customer side

In essence, AudioCodes’ analog gateways represent a cost-effective replacement for the Cisco VG224. They are compatible with currently installed environments, and there is no need for expensive upgrades to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) or increased investment in hardware.

And, just to make sure that our MediaPack 1xx gateways can get to exactly where they’re needed with the minimum of fuss, we’ve just launched a new promotion to help you get the best devices for the best prices.
