The Customer
Established in 1997, and based in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Pocos is a wholesale service provider that sells solely through their partner channel. The company’s platform is accessible via almost all copper and fiber infrastructures in the Benelux region.
The Challenge
For several years, Pocos had offered a hosted VoIP solution using their own infrastructure, based on open-source components such as Kamailio and RTP-Engine. Along with a strong focus on end-user voice applications, this led to impressive growth in their partner network and customer base.
However, limited in-house development and support capacity negatively affected scaling, functionality and stability, which was exacerbated by the company’s inability to offer Microsoft Teams certified SIP trunks. As a result, Pocos sought a partner that could offer a mature and stable solution to drive their future growth.
The Solution
AudioCodes worked closely with Pocos to expand their existing platform by deploying AudioCodes Mediant VE virtualized session border controllers (SBCs) in their private cloud infrastructure. These SBCs function both in an access role interfacing with customers’ voice platforms and in a peering role to connect with various carriers.
Adding the AudioCodes SBCs meant that Pocos could expand their connectivity portfolio by offering SIP trunks certified for use with Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. AudioCodes’ One Voice Operations Center (OVOC) was deployed as a centralized voice network management solution and to offer detailed voice quality monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities.
The Results
As it turned out, the ability to offer SIP trunks certified for Teams Direct Routing coincided perfectly with the huge upswing in the number of Teams users triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Newly equipped with AudioCodes’ SBCs, Pocos found themselves ideally placed to meet this sudden market demand.
In terms of the technology itself, the robust security offered by AudioCodes SBCs was a big draw for Pocos. In addition, the company was very impressed by OVOC’s ability to deliver excellent quality of service at a time when ensuring maximum customer satisfaction has never been more important.
