Suffolk County Council is the local government authority for Suffolk, located in the eastern part of the United Kingdom.
The Challenge
Suffolk County Council, had been enjoying the benefits of Microsoft unified communications based on Skype for Business Server for a number of years. In 2020, with the contract with their provider coming to an end, they decided to migrate to Microsoft’s latest UC offering, Microsoft Teams.
Suffolk County Council needed to ensure a quick and smooth migration to Microsoft Teams, as well as to offer a work-from-home option to hundreds of their employees due to the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Solution
After evaluating a number of different vendor solutions that could potentially meet their requirements, Suffolk County Council eventually chose the AudioCodes Live for Microsoft Teams managed service. This SBC-as-a-Service offering delivers Microsoft-certified Teams calling connectivity on a monthly subscription basis.
By taking this route, Suffolk County Council avoided having to hire costly in-house experts, and AudioCodes’ technical staff now monitor the Teams tenant and voice infrastructure 24/7. Within just three months, the entire voice network of 6,500 users was seamlessly migrated to Teams. AudioCodes Microsoft-certified Mediant Direct Routing SBCs ensure full resilience of the service and excellent voice quality.
